About our school

Southern Cross Catholic College is a Prep to Year 12 day- school offering families a co-educational pathway to lifelong learning. The College was founded in 1995, following the amalgamation of seven Catholic schools on the Redcliffe Peninsula and is committed to continuing and developing the tradition of Catholic education begun by its founders: the Brigidine Sisters, the Sisters of St Joseph, the De La Salle Brothers and Monsignor Bartholomew Frawley.

We prepare each student to have a positive impact on their world and encourage excellence in all endeavours. As the only Lasallian college in Queensland, our unshakeable sense of purpose comes from our focused Lasallian values. We live each day guided by our five core principles:

  • Faith in the presence of God • Respect for all persons
  • Inclusive community
  • Quality education
  • Concern for the poor and social justice

The College strives to provide each student with a seamless and coherent transition from Prep to Year 12. Uniqueness of the College allows students and their families access to facilities unparalleled in Brisbane Catholic Education.

Principal's Message

There is something very comforting in finding the Southern Cross in a sky crowded with constellations. For millennia the Southern Cross has guided and reassured the peoples of our land. The stars were and continue to be an important symbol for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the first custodians of our ancient land. The Southern Cross has guided explorers and navigators and became a symbol of unity first for the miners of Eureka and then on our National Flag. For Australian Christians, the Southern Cross is a symbol of the Great South Land of the Holy Spirit.

Southern Cross Catholic College continues the rich and proud tradition of Catholic education on the Redcliffe Peninsula in providing a comprehensive education for our students from Prep to Year 12. As a Lasallian College we celebrate and live the charism of St John Baptist De La Salle where we accept the invitation to make the loving and saving presence of Jesus Christ a visible and effective reality in the world of education, in the world of the young. Ultimately, we are about faith leading to service which in turn builds authentic community.
