About our school

Kilbreda College, in the heart of Mentone, is a contemporary and progressive Catholic school. Established by the Brigidine Sisters in 1904, we build on 120 years of experience in educating girls to become confident, independent women who seek to make a positive contribution to their community and our world. Our Brigidine and College motto, ‘Strength and Kindliness’, together with our core values, underpin our extensive curriculum and co-curricular program and shape our relationships. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming community in which all students are known and valued, where we treat each other with respect and dignity at all times. With an emphasis on wellbeing, our tailored programs foster an inclusive culture that encourages a sense of pride, purpose and belonging.

At Kilbreda, we recognise that each student is unique and we celebrate and value the diverse perspectives, interests, and talents that they bring. We value a holistic education, nurturing and supporting each student to grow intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and socially. Through a combined focus on wellbeing and academic growth, our students are challenged and supported to achieve their very best in all their endeavours whether it be in the classroom, on a stage playing in a music ensemble or out on the sporting field. Like the Brigidine Sisters, we are deeply committed to matters of social and environmental justice and seek to instil in our students an understanding of contemporary issues in society and a desire to enact positive change through their words and actions.

Principal's Message

Founded in 1904, Kilbreda College is a Catholic secondary school for girls where Christianity is lived out through core Gospel values and in the Brigidine tradition of Strength and Kindliness. We are a learning focused school where as individuals and as a whole school community we strive for continuous growth with an emphasis on improving learning outcomes.

In partnership with families, we support and encourage our students to achieve excellent individual learning and wellbeing outcomes. We are committed to providing a contemporary, comprehensive, and innovative learning environment that empowers young women to be well-informed, independent and critical thinkers who are confident to embrace an ever changing world. At Kilbreda College, staff and students form a collaborative learning community. In this safe, nurturing and challenging environment, students develop a sense of self-belief, integrity and confidence that will enable them to become part of a generation responsible for bringing positive change to our world. We encourage our students to aspire to be people of hope and compassion with a personal commitment to justice and the courage to respond to the needs of others.

Through exposure to a rigorous learning environment, an extensive co-curricular program and a deep commitment to social justice, our mission is to inspire our students to pursue academic excellence, express their creativity and embrace opportunities for leadership and service. We celebrate the diversity and unique gifts of our students and encourage and support them to develop into confident and articulate young women.

I invite you to join us for one of our Open Mornings, Talk and Tours or at our Annual Open Day to learn more about our wonderful College.
