Southern Cross Catholic College – Our Past, Our Present, Our Future

The College’s rich history stems back to the 1940s when the original Brigidine Sisters’ school first opened its doors
in January 1948 as St Bernadette’s Primary School. Our Lady Help of Christians opened soon after in 1950, Soubirous College followed in 1951, with De La Salle primary and secondary opening in 1955, Our Lady of Lourdes in 1969 while Frawley College was founded in 1973 and named after the local Parish Priest, Monsignor Bartholomew Frawley.

The benefits which flourished from the amalgamation of these seven schools in 1995 include well-resourced facilities and a strengthened community. Today, Southern Cross Catholic College boasts three primary campuses located in Scarborough, Kippa Ring and Woody Point, accommodating students in Prep to Year 6. A fourth campus, also located in Scarborough, accommodates middle and senior years students from Years 7 to Year 12.

With future-focused learning and wellbeing a priority, Southern Cross students are well equipped for life beyond the College. Our curriculum fosters innovation, critical thinking and realworld experiences. Beyond academics, we prioritise the wellbeing of our students, nurturing resilience, emotional intelligence and purpose. The College prepares students for a promising and successful future.
