About our school
St Thomas the Apostle School is a safe and happy learning community. We are a medium sized school, where your child is known and cared for by all.
Our teaching encourages the students to discuss, think and apply their learning across the curriculum. The students often work together, gaining valuable input and skills from others and learning how to cooperate.
We implement the Science of Learning across the curriculum, and implement a structured phonics approach to the teaching of reading in the P-2 area. Whenever possible, we link Religious Education and Inquiry Learning, so that the students see faith as intertwined in life.
We aim to help the students to develop as faith-filled, responsible and ethical young people, aware of others in their own community and the wider world. It is important for students to action their learning.
Our Specialist areas are enjoyed by the students and include PE, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, STEM, Respectful Relationships and Auslan. We aim for the students to develop conceptual skills, artistic skills, physical skills, experimentation, problem finding and solving, decision making, ideas generation and action.
Some of the highlights of our school include: Preparation of the students for the sacraments at Years 3, 4 and 6; a whole school Performance and a Visual Arts Show (Biennial); a fabulous Kitchen Garden program including our chickens; a wonderful Buddies program for the Prep and Year Six students; Camps and excursions; Sports Days and Swimming, as well as opportunities for SRC and Leadership roles.
We LOVE learning and our school!
