About our school
The staff of St. Theresa’s are very committed to providing quality education for all the children in their care. The children are educated in a caring atmosphere, which promotes all of the Catholic values. The Staff has many years of teaching experience and have a keen interest in current educational trends and thinking.
St. Theresa’s school has many special features. One of the most important is the sense of community and family involvement in school. Parents and teachers work in partnership to educate. St. Theresa’s has a very active community and caters for parents who work. Each Term the parents are invited to attend special occasions such as the annual Twilight Sports, Art Show, School Production and Parents Information nights. We believe that as a school community we have created an atmosphere of community and care, this spirit is uniquely St. Theresa’s.
Principal's Message
St Theresa’s is owned and operated by Melbourne Archdiocesan Schools (MACS) that serves St Theresa’s Parish. The Parish established our school in 1951 and since that time the Parish and its school have been well known for its strong community focus and its service to the people of Albion.
In times past the Sisters of St Joseph staffed our school and The Brigidine Order was also associated with it. The influence of these dedicated religious women still very much permeates the culture of our school.
St Theresa’s school serves the community of Albion and as such upholds and adheres to democratic principles of Australia; those being elected government, the rule of law, equal rights for all before the law, freedom of religion, freedom of speech and association and the values of openness and tolerance.
St Theresa’s School holds the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of Catholic education. St Theresa’s School has a universal expectation for the protection of children. It is resolutely committed to ensuring that all those engaged in Catholic education in our school promote the inherent dignity of children and young people and their fundamental right to be respected and nurtured in a safe school environment. This is particularly so for the most vulnerable children, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and children with a disability.
Our school is very diverse culturally with 25 different nationalities represented among our students who are the friendliest children I have ever met.
The school offers a comprehensive, inclusive education that is contemporary and innovative. Our facilities and resources support our programs well and we are always working to improve our endeavours and provide our community with the best learning environment possible.
We have a team of very dedicated staff members who have a deep commitment to the school and its families and who view the family/school partnership as integral to everything that they do. I feel privileged to belong to a staff that has the wellbeing and safety of their students and a commitment to a Christian view of the person as their priority.
Our families likewise have a very strong commitment to our school and support it very well in a variety of ways and we hope all of our community members find this website a valuable resource.
The strong community culture of St. Theresa’s is a hallmark of our school.
We are very proud of our school and we welcome enrolment enquiries. Please feel free to contact me if you want to know more about our school. I hope you find this website useful and valuable.
