About our school

St. Simon’s has had a long tradition dating back to 1986 of involvement in the Integration Program which supports children with severe disabilities within the mainstream setting. This has led in 1996 to participation in an Interaction Program with students from Monash Special Development School which takes place on a weekly basis. The student population is drawn from a very diverse range of cultural backgrounds. In all, a total of 27 different nationalities are represented. While approximately one third of the students are from language backgrounds other than English. In 1995 a .4 allocation for an English Second Language program was granted by the Catholic Education Office and increased to .5 in 1997. The co-operation and enthusiasm of the Staff and Parent Community working together, within the context of our Catholic faith and tradition, promotes an environment which fosters a love of learning and is supportive of individual needs.

Principal's Message

Welcome to St. Simon the Apostle School, Rowville. We are a Child Safe school promoting the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children. We are proud of our Catholic faith and tradition and this underpins all areas of school life as evidenced by relationships, language and rituals. We aim for all families to grow in the parish community and to experience the guidance and joy of the Catholic Faith.

At St Simon’s we enjoy a positive and welcoming culture where we celebrate strengths and promote a growth mindset. We believe in creating happy memories and we do this through providing exciting and enjoyable class, year level and whole school events.

We aim to nurture gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and strong connections within our community. We want our students to flourish and reach their potential by knowing and using their strengths and building on them. We want our students to identify and follow their passions and learn how to make a difference in the world. We aim to bring about the best in each student, enabling all to achieve the highest goals possible.
