St Peter’s is a co-educational primary school located in Bentleigh East, south east of Melbourne. Steeped in 160 years of rich history we pride ourselves on providing a quality Catholic education that enables all members of the school community to thrive. The first parish school of St Peter’s, Bentleigh East, was established in 1865 in Centre Road, opposite the present site of the Monash Medical Centre, Moorabbin Campus. The tiny timber schoolhouse served the community for 36 years and was replaced in 1903 by a brick building under the guidance of the Presentation Sisters. Today St Peter’s has exceptional contemporary facilities, providing opportunities for students to engage in a comprehensive curriculum and participate in learning that empowers them to question, critique, take risks and understand our ever changing world.
Under the governance of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd. (MACS), St Peter’s provides an exceptional educational experience that is shaped by Gospel values and supports students to flourish as learners. Students are provided opportunities to enhance their academic, spiritual, physical, social and emotional development. With extensive curricular and co-curricular programs, students at St Peter’s are able to discover their unique strengths and hidden talents, providing a supportive environment where all students can experience success.
Our teaching is guided by the latest research in the science of learning, with a strong foundation in phonics-based literacy development. St Peter’s is committed to meeting the diverse learning needs of each student through targeted literacy and numeracy programs, including intervention and extension opportunities. Beyond the core curriculum, students engage in an extensive specialist program enabling each student to express their creativity and discover areas of interest and curiosity.
At St Peter’s, we value the strong partnerships we share with our families and the wider community. Through social justice initiatives, students are encouraged to live out their faith in practical ways, making a positive impact on the world around them. Wellbeing and social-emotional learning are woven throughout all experiences, fostering a positive school environment. At St Peter’s, we believe that when students are happy, confident and resilient, they develop positive habits that prepare them to embrace challenges with hope. St Peter’s is a school with a rich history and a bright future.
I invite you to contact us to learn more about our wonderful community.
