About our school

Our mission at St Patrick’s College is to provide an excellent education to boys, with the Gospel message being central to everything we do. Our College is built on the legacy of the Christian Brothers and is modelled upon the founding ideals of Blessed Edmund Rice. The College seeks to educate young men who are socially critical and spiritually aware and demonstrate how they can stand with the poor and marginalised with empathy, compassion and empowerment.

An extensive co-curricular program enhances personal growth and the development of responsibility, cooperation and initiative; skills which only serve to complement what takes place in the classroom. In this way we seek to animate our College motto which allows each individual to “Let his Light Shine”.

A significant feature of our College community is the sense of belonging that our boys experience, with many strong and lasting friendships formed. Testament to this is the number of Old Boys who remain firmly connected to their alma mater, not only through the Old Boys’ Association, but by sending their sons to be educated here.

As we look to the future, we strive to continue to be a ‘lighthouse’ school for boys’ education in Australia. That is, as a College, we wish to stand tall and strong, illuminating our community from within and shining a light over our students to guide them to safe harbour.

Principal's Message

The College motto, ‘Luceat Lux Vestra’ means let your light shine and is one that all are challenged to strive towards. From the moment you put on the blue cap, this innate connection to our motto begins to rise. Letting your light shine is manifested in many ways, but no matter how big or small, embodying this motto serves to strengthen our community, one light at a time. To let your light shine is to immerse yourself in College life. To be kind, to be good and to be selfless. To be there for your friend in a time of need or to serve marginalised communities. By being your authentic self, and following in the footsteps of Blessed Edmund Rice, your light will shine the brightest. This isn’t something that can be taught; rather it is simply nurtured and instilled within every boy, from the youngest in the blue cap to the oldest in the black tie.
