About our school
St Mary’s Primary School places student wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment through positive behaviour supports that promote respect, responsibility and care for others. Significant time is devoted to the explicit teaching of behavioural norms, ensuring students clearly understand expectations and are supported to make positive choices. Guided by the MACS Vision for Engagement, we partner with families to build strong relationships that support every child’s sense of belonging, confidence and readiness to learn.
Religious Education is central to our identity as a Catholic school within the Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (MACS). We support students to develop a deep understanding of the Catholic faith, grounded in Gospel values and lived through prayer, liturgy and service. Through rich learning experiences, students are encouraged to explore their relationship with God, develop compassion for others and grow as active, faith-filled members of their community.
High-quality teaching and learning underpin our commitment to educational excellence. Our instructional practices are guided by the MACS Vision for Instruction and informed by evidence-based practice. Teachers use Explicit Direct Instruction supported by robust scope and sequences across all curriculum areas, ensuring learning is structured, coherent and responsive to student needs. This consistent and intentional approach enables all students to build strong foundations in knowledge and skills, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
