About our school
St Joseph’s Primary School was established by the Sisters of Mercy on Arthurton Road in 1893. In 1904 the Sisters of the Good Samaritan were asked by the Roman Catholic Church to take over from the Sisters of Mercy.
Our school motto, WHERE EVERY CHILD MATTERS, AND EVERY MOMENT COUNTS is indicative of the goals we set ourselves as educators, and the learning pathway we provide for our students. We aim to nurture and challenge our students’ intellectual and imaginative capacities to ensure that each person, in our student-centred curriculum, strives for personal excellence and growth. We believe in the importance of educating the whole child; intellectually, spiritually, socially, physically, and emotionally.
At St Joseph’s we pride ourselves on our smaller class size and our vibrant and inclusive community. Student learning is at the centre of everything we do at St Joseph’s, and together, students, teachers and parents all work hand-in-hand to ensure that all children achieve success. If you choose to have your child/children attend St Joseph’s, you can be assured that we will work with you to enable your child to reach their full potential.

Principal's Message
I am honoured to lead the St Joseph’s learning community. At St Joseph’s, we foster a culture of excellence, placing the wellbeing of every child at the centre of our work and ensuring each student is truly at the heart of all we do.
We strive to make school a place of enjoyment and excitement, where children are confident to explore, create and flourish as learners. We provide a curriculum that is engaging and will challenge your children to inquire into the world; to question and to seek answers, to experiment and experience success.
An important part of your child’s learning and development relies on the close relationship between the child, parent, teachers and support staff. At St Joseph’s we will all work together to provide purposeful and relevant learning opportunities that are connected to the world of each child.
We encourage and build upon Resilient, Responsible and Respectful behaviours in a caring and supportive environment, where every child matters and every moment counts
