About our school
St Joseph’s is located on a secure site with access to a large number of facilities. The present population of 365 students is accommodated comfortably in this environment. Over the last ten years substantial improvements have been made to all buildings and playground equipment with plans to refurbish our hall in the near future.
Some of the key features of our contemporary learning classrooms include access to their technical requirements of interactive 4K whiteboards, ipads, laptops and chromebooks. The discovery centre houses two kitchens to incorporate cooking classes using some of the produce from our sustainable garden that the children have planted and maintained. The children also care for our chickens and use the eggs for cooking.
The children can access 5 different adventure playgrounds, a large asphalt area for major ball games, a quiet treed area with sandpit and a grassed area the size of two house blocks.

Principal's Message
Welcome to St Joseph’s Primary School Chelsea. My name is Gavan O’Donnell, and as the principal, I look forward to working with you in partnership with the teachers, parents and parish of Chelsea as we embark on your child’s educational journey.
Here at St Joseph’s we aim to develop the whole child Socially, Emotionally, Intellectually and Spiritually in a supportive Catholic Learning Community.
St Joseph’s is focused on helping the children grow to be the best they can be. We offer a range of specialists classes and extracurricular activities. The school is focused on the students being self driven and motivated learners and in providing all classes with digital technologies to support their engagement in today’s contemporary learning environments.
I have a vision that I have developed over many years in education in helping shape the future generation as we prepare the children to be active members of our global world. Taking interest in the sustainability of our future while being exposed to 21st century technologies. This is all done in a nurturing environment where each child’s is a valued member of our school.
Our strength lies in the close partnerships between students, staff, parents and the wider community which is highly valued by us all. Respectful relationships are valued as we live out our school motto “Always Faithful”. We follow the Gospel Values and encourage all to follow in Jesus’s footsteps.
Our teachers cater for the different learning styles of all students with quality educational outcomes their constant focus. Measuring growth, providing feedback and setting goals will help all children achieve.
