About our school

EREA Youth+ currently operates 19 flexible learning centres, each a registered school, around Australia. They provide a place and an opportunity to re-engage with learning and community. Flexible learning centres operate on a common ground basis where young people are empowered to determine their own pathways.

Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) was established in 2007 to govern and manage the schools established and governed by the Christian Brothers in Australia from 1871 to 2007. EREA now governs 53 schools, covering all states and territories of Australia and enrolling over 38000 students.

The Youth+ Institute works with communities to establish new services, conducts research, provides consultancy and supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educational initiatives.

The Youth+ Foundation was established in 2015 to attract funds to support the work of Youth+ in providing educational opportunities to disenfranchised youth.

Principal's Message

A very warm welcome to St Joseph’s Catholic Flexi School, Alice Springs. St Joseph’s is part of Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA), a network of schools offering a Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition.

Inspired by the legacy of Edmund Rice, our school is dedicated to providing alternative education to young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling and offer a supportive environment with a focus on relationship building and individualised learning plans.

St. Joseph’s Catholic Flexible School opened as a registered secondary school in 2012. I am proud of our school and how our experienced and dedicated staff lovingly provide a nurturing and safe environment for the disenfranchised young people in Alice Springs. We recognise our young people as individuals and our passionate staff place a strong focus on developing each young person’s culture and identity. We embrace families into our school community and encourage community engagement.

Our school is a place of welcome and inclusion, a place of community, and a place of opportunity for both students and staff. We focus on providing learning and development opportunities to ensure our young people are equipped with the skills, the mindset, and the passion to contribute positively and compassionately to our global community.

There is clear evidence of visible Catholic Identity throughout our school and a strong sense of mission. Our inviting learning spaces have been enhanced with the recent addition of a new yarning circle, art gallery, artwork spaces, woodwork room and a fully equipped gym.

We strive to provide the best possible learning experience for our young people, and we look forward to working with you to achieve this.
