At St.Gabriel’s we recognise that all children are capable and competent individuals. We acknowledge that children bring a wealth of knowledge, talents and potential with them to school. Our educators seek to build strong connections with our children, so that their talents and potential is recognised and nurtured.

Our educators engage in rich, ongoing professional conversations about targeting the learning needs of our children. We respond to children’s needs through evidence based practices that ensure that all children experience success and growth in their learning.

In partnership with families, we support children to progress in their learning and thrive in their development. Through a combination of whole group and small group instruction, our educators explicitly teach and target Literacy, Numeracy, Inquiry and Faith based learning and skills. Our educators strategically and intentionally design learning experiences that enable children to develop a depth of understanding that is transferable to a wide range of learning contexts.

Our pedagogical approach of Discovery and My Projects provides children with an opportunity to transfer and practice skills they’ve been explicitly taught while offering them space and time to cultivate a sense of wonder and to spark their own curiosities.

Our dynamic learning spaces and flexible grouping model encourage our children to build and strengthen their dispositions and capabilities as lifelong learners. Together, we learn the skills and strategies needed to be effective learners, such as developing the skills of persistence, resilience, flexible thinking and adaptiveness. We believe that the development of these skills are essential for our children to thrive, both, in the present, and as active members in the communities of the future.

Open Days/School Tours
We offer school tours with our Principal or Deputy Principal throughout the year. These include a walkthrough of all spaces within the school with a connection to our vision and learning and teaching philosophy.
