About our school

St Catherine of Siena School is a Catholic co-educational primary school in Armstrong Creek, Geelong. We are a welcoming and inclusive learning environment, open to all families who are supportive of the Catholic mission and traditions of Catholic education.

Our school doors opened for the first time in January 2020 with 135 students. In subsequent years our enrolment has grown strongly and in 2025 the school supports an enrolment of more than 500 students in Prep – Year 6.

St Catherine’s school is enlightened by Gospel values. We model Catholic Social Teaching and embrace the Catholic tradition. We rejoice in diversity, knowing all children can learn.

Our school enhances each child’s wellbeing to enable and empower them to excel. We have created a positive, safe school of learners with a particular focus on enriching each child’s wellbeing. At St Catherine’s we emphasise the building of positive relationships with self and others, for each member of our school community.

All students are energised with quality and innovative learning. We have a particular focus on explicit literacy and numeracy education and encourage all students to pursue excellence. We know each of our children and we develop learners from what they know, establishing high expectations and providing constructive feedback.

At St Catherine of Siena, we have a strong commitment to life-long learning, encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning through an enriching and stimulating curriculum. We cultivate active and engaged learners who learn to work collaboratively, to respectfully express themselves and to grow spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically.

It is our plan that students are empowered to discover and follow their strengths and passions so that they can be who they were created to be and set the world on fire.

Principal's Message

Welcome to our St Catherine of Siena, Armstrong Creek website.

We offer a well-rounded faith based education to students in Armstrong Creek and surrounding areas. Our school is a flourishing community where culture, faith and life find a meeting place.

As principal, I lead a dedicated, caring and professional staff who work hard to equip each child with the learning they require to grow as individuals and as contributing members of our community. We also place a huge emphasis on positive behaviour for learning (PBL) and routines where we explicitly teach the expectations of: We are respectful, We are learners and we are safe. Our environment is one where children feel safe, valued and have a sense of love and belonging.

St Catherine of Siena is a warm and very friendly community that provides each child with the opportunity to develop and nurture their natural passion for learning. Our multicultural school recognises, values and welcomes the rich and diverse cultures of our local community. As students are the heart of St Catherine of Siena School we strive to provide a learning environment that is inclusive of all. Together as a community, we shape our vision and values to provide a catholic school of excellence for every child.

Working collaboratively, we provide a quality education for students through meaningful, innovative learning and faith-filled experiences. We embrace parent engagement and pride ourselves in building strong family and community partnerships. Our philosophy supports the Science of Learning with a systematic structured approach to teaching, particularly for reading, spelling and mathematics. The curriculum at St Catherine of Siena interweaves the domain of Religious Education and those of the Victorian Curriculum enabling students to direct and take responsibility for their learning. Our students are spread across welcoming classrooms from Prep to Grade 6. There are specialist teachers covering Physical Education, Visual Arts, Performing Art, STEM, Outdoor Learning and Spanish Kitchen and encourage authentic student voices for students to collaborate and make decisions.

We have a strong focus on the development of reading, writing and numeracy skills. We use technology as a tool for learning and encourage working in partnership with our families. Walking into a school is the perfect way for you to gain an understanding of what it can offer your child and what is valued in the St Catherine of Siena school community.
