About our school

St Augustine’s School grew out of the natural development of St Francis Xavier’s Parish in a south easterly direction along the Baxter-Pearcedale growth corridor.

The school is one of three primary schools belonging to the super Parish of St Francis Xavier, Frankston and St John’s Frankston East. Our school is situated four kilometres out of Frankston’s CBD and is set on over 3 hectares of natural bushland; much of which is protected by both an Aboriginal overlay and a vegetation protection overlay, issued by Frankston Council.

We continue to enjoy a close relationship with St Francis Xavier’s school, our partner Parish Primary School. It is at St Francis Xavier Church that we gather in faith to celebrate significant occasions such as the Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation and Eucharist.

The school was named in honour of the Augustinian Nuns, who so faithfully served the Parish of St Francis Xavier for eight years.

Building construction commenced in February 1980 and was completed in February 1981. The first classes commenced on the school site on 5th February, 1981. Further extensions of more classrooms, a library and an office, commenced in November 1981 and were completed in September 1983. In 2004, a new resource centre and administration area was built. In 2009 the multi-purpose hall was built. In 2017, to cater for growing enrolments, seven new learning spaces were constructed, including a Kids Kitchen and a roof was erected over the netball/basketball court.

The school buildings and grounds are constantly being developed and upgraded to ensure safe, stimulating, imaginative and fun play for the students.

Our school emblem depicts our Christianity, learning, the people who make up our community and our proximity to the sea.

Principal's Message

Welcome to our wonderful school. At St Augustine’s we strive to ensure that the needs of all of our students in our care are met. We value kindness, empathy and integrity in all that we do and say. Our approach to teaching and learning is exceptional and we place great emphasis on the social emotional wellbeing of all of our students. Developing the whole child is the foundation.

We recognise that parents make an important contribution to the education of their children and welcome their active involvement and participation in the life of the parish, school and the educational programs offered. The staff of St Augustine’s will work in partnership with you in nurturing your child’s development. We will guide, support and assist your child in every possible way and take a genuine interest in your child’s welfare.

Each child at St Augustine’s is seen as an individual who can develop and know the feeling of success. This sense of self-worth is nurtured through understanding, motivating and enabling children, whilst encouraging responsibility and providing challenging activities in a safe and secure environment. Our children are supported through Religious and pastoral programs that model Jesus’ love and acceptance of everyone.

Come and visit our school to see firsthand what we offer and can provide for your child and family. We are at community at heart and warmly welcome you to our school. Choosing a school for your child is an important decision and we invite you to join our school community and entrust your child into our tender love and care.

God Bless, Show grace and Be the Joy for Others.

Carrie Rodda – Principal
