About our school
St Anthony’s School was established by the Josephite Sisters in 1917. The school celebrated 100 years of education in 2017 and continues in the charism of Mary MacKillop.
Students are provided with a rich curriculum with particular emphasis on faith development, wellbeing and religious education. Literacy and Numeracy are key components of the curriculum with the focus on developing students’ skills and knowledge.
The school offers students counselling services, speech pathology support, extra curricular lunchtime programs and extensive sporting opportunities, including swimming, running and athletics clubs.
At St Anthony’s Primary School Alphington, we aim to develop responsible, independent and resilient learners equipped to thrive in a contemporary world. We do this by inspiring students to be active participants in their learning; teaching them to develop an understanding of the effect of their actions on themselves and others; and by encouraging connectedness to their peers and school community.
The core seven qualities we instil at our school are compassion, leadership, service, determination, courage, social justice and community spirit.
We encourage these values across all aspects of our school including our leadership programs such as School Captains, House Captains and classroom SRC’s.
In addition to these opportunities, a select group of Grade 4 students lead our students in our FIRE (Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education) Carrier program and we also have a Mini Vinnies program where selected students lead the school in highlighting groups in the community suffering from social injustice and doing something about it – SEE, THINK, DO.
