About our school
St Anne’s was established in 1978 as it was evident that the local Catholic school, Our Lady of Mt Carmel could not cater for the increasing enrolments in the Parish. St Anne’s opened with an enrolment of 65 children to serve the families living in the newly developing areas to the west of the Sunbury railway line.
Over the years, the school’s enrolment has increased to over 600 students. As a result there has been a steady increase in staffing, buildings and facilities required to serve the changing needs of the school.
St Anne’s is located in a semi-rural setting, that has wide open spaces, views of a distant mountain range and yet is only a half hour drive from Melbourne. The school caters for primary age children from Sunbury and the surrounding farming areas. The school consists of three blocks of buildings which have in addition to classroom areas, and administration areas, specialist areas that include music, physical education, music and library. The school has computers in each classroom and there is a computer laboratory. The playground area at the school includes a football oval, basketball court, downball courts, and large expanses of grass areas. There is also a large adventure playground that is sheltered from the sun, sand pit and covered play areas.
Parents are an invaluable resource to the school that are involved in many aspects of St Anne’s school. Parents participate in curriculum activities such as reading, maths groups, creative arts programs and computer, special activities such as sporting events and excursions.
Principal's Message
Welcome to St Anne’s, one of three Catholic primary schools within the Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Sunbury, and a feeder school to Salesian College at Rupertswood.
We provide a diverse and contemporary curriculum, giving our children access to quality and meaningful learning experiences, whilst catering for the social, emotional and academic needs of each individual child.
We celebrate the uniqueness of each person and endeavour to develop authentic, healthy and positive relations with self and others in order to nurture a strong sense of connectedness and belonging.
I look forward to working in partnership with you and work collaboratively in supporting our children to be confident and successful participants at St Anne’s and the wider community.
