Our Lady of Mercy Catholic College Burraneer, located in Cronulla, is the only Catholic school specialising in girls’ education in the Sutherland Shire underpinned by the tradition and values of the Mercy Charism. A College inspiring excellence in learning; where each learner with agency, engages in a personalised pathway, with opportunities to connect to industry, tertiary and outside agencies promoting real world experiences, developing the skills of autonomous learners. Students become confident lifelong learners grounded in an innovative, future focused curriculum, fostering deep learning, so that as empowered women, they will contribute to the common good, address global challenges and flourish in a complex world. The College vision ‘Encouraging Girls – Empowering Women’ is realised through dynamic teaching and personalised learning. OLMC maintains a supportive learning environment, tailored to developing each students’ intellectual, social, physical, spiritual and emotional potential. The College values academic excellence, recently being recognised in the top 50 schools in Sydney for NAPLAN. We also specialise in Gifted Education, through the Newman Program STEM, with its focus on girls’ learning in Science, Mathematics and Technology, is actively embraced. Our learning spaces offer contemporary, innovative, state of the art facilities where students engage in diverse and collaborative experiences. Our Performing Arts Centre caters for Drama, Music and Dance, as well as PDHPE. Currently, there is a clear pathway to Year 12, with students through De La Salle (Senior) Catholic College, Cronulla, with consistent outstanding HSC results. Our students are challenged to live the Mercy values of compassion, justice and hospitality each day. Retreats and reflection days focus on spirituality and promote a vibrant and meaningful liturgical life. Vertical homerooms promote friendly and respectful relationships, with older students encouraged to take leadership in Peer Support and Pastoral Care programs. As well as their Year group, all girls belong to a house connected to our Mercy tradition.
