About our school

O’Loughlin Catholic College, named after Bishop John O’Loughlin, is a welcoming co-educational community that integrates religion, learning, and belonging. Serving nearly 600 students, it is guided by the motto “Make us one with Christ,” where Years 7–12 students enjoy variety and ground every experience in Gospel values—nurturing resilient young hearts to lead with hope, compassion, and purpose. O’Loughlin balances academic rigour with spiritual depth, helping students thrive in a caring atmosphere that feels like family from day one.

Adjacent to Holy Family Catholic Primary School, the College facilitates seamless transitions for families seeking continuity—from primary foundations to secondary schooling—through orientation camps, buddy systems, and shared events. Co-curricular activities abound, including sports on lush ovals, engaging music groups, outdoor adventures, and leadership roles in student governments and prefect teams.

O’Loughlin provides a faith-integrated curriculum aligned with the Australian Curriculum, SACE, and VET, fostering intellectual, ethical, and spiritual growth. In Years 7–9, core subjects like Religious Education, Mathematics, Humanities, Science, and Health/Physical Education build foundational skills in a supportive environment, with electives sparking curiosity. Years 10–12 blend SACE Stages 1 and 2 for ATAR or non-ATAR pathways, including VET from Year 9 for practical certifications, while core Religious Education weaves Gospel values to inspire justice. Tailored assessments and support ensure personalised success, preparing compassionate leaders for university, work, or beyond. Principal's Message

Our College, named after Bishop John O’Loughlin, is built on the lands of the Larrakia people and we respectfully acknowledge the history and stories of this land and its people. O’Loughlin Catholic College has a proud history of offering holistic Catholic education to students from the Darwin region from Year 7-12. I am thrilled to hold the position of Principal here at O’Loughlin Catholic College and build on the work of those who have gone before me.
As a school community we uphold the sentiment of our Vision, ‘Make us one in Christ with faith, hope and love.’ We work in partnership with students and their families to nurture young people who serve their community and see the sacredness in themselves and each other.
We pride ourselves on our commitment to helping young people be the best version of themselves. Student learning and wellbeing are our core purpose. We work to maintain a culture of co-responsibility and work with families and Catholic Education Northern Territory to support the academic, social and spiritual growth of each student.
I look forward to contributing to the narrative of O’Loughlin Catholic College and to see the College continue to thrive, making it the first choice for Secondary Catholic Education in the Northern suburbs of Darwin.
