Lumen Christi (Light of Christ) was named by the school community in August 2000 after opening as Point Cook Catholic Primary School on Thursday 27 January 2000. Our name and motto, “Let Your Light Shine,” continue to express our belief that every child carries the light of Christ within them, and that our shared purpose is to help that light shine brightly through faith, learning, and relationships.
Located within the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish of Laverton, Altona Meadows and Point Cook, Lumen Christi serves the growing community of Point Cook and surrounding areas. Since opening, our school has become a place where children, families, staff, and parish come together in a spirit of partnership and belonging. This partnership is central to who we are — a faith-filled community committed to nurturing the whole child: spiritually, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.
At Lumen Christi, learning is seen as a shared journey between home and school. Families are active partners in their children’s education, contributing to a culture that values connection, respect, and collaboration. Teachers and support staff work closely with families to create engaging, inclusive, and challenging learning experiences that empower students to be curious, confident, and compassionate learners who make a difference in their world.
Our relationship with the Holy Trinity Parish remains at the heart of school life. Together we celebrate our Catholic faith through prayer, liturgy, and action, encouraging our students to live out Gospel values in their daily lives. The faith experiences we share as a community — whether in the classroom, the church, or through service to others — help our children to understand what it means to be people of hope and love.
Lumen Christi continues to thrive, welcoming around 650 students across 27 classes. We are proud of the strong sense of community that has grown over the past 25 years — one that values learning, celebrates diversity, and supports every child to let their light shine.
Lumen Christi remains true to its mission: to be a place where faith and learning meet, where families and school work hand in hand to belong, and where every child is known, valued, and is called to build hope for their future.

Dear Families,
Welcome to Lumen Christi Catholic Primary School, Point Cook.
It is with great joy that I welcome you and your child into our vibrant and faith-filled community.
At Lumen Christi, our vision is To be guided by faith, uplifted with hope and inspired to shine. This vision calls us to nurture a community where the light of Christ is at the heart of all we do — in our learning, in our relationships, and in the way we serve one another.
We live out this vision through our three mission actions: to Learn, to Belong and to Hope.
We are called to Learn by engaging in rich, meaningful, and challenging learning experiences that inspire curiosity and a lifelong love of discovery.
We are called to Belong by building a community where every child and family is known, valued, and celebrated for the gifts they bring.
And we are called to Hope by placing our trust in God, embracing the future with optimism and faith.
Educating your child is a partnership between home, school, and parish. Together, we strive to support each child in their growth — spiritually, academically, emotionally, and socially — so they may become compassionate, confident, and capable learners who shine their light in the world.
Our dedicated staff are committed to providing a high-quality Catholic education that reflects our values and responds to the needs of today’s learners. As part of the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) network, we are guided by shared policies and supported in our mission to be an inclusive community grounded in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
We warmly welcome you to Lumen Christi Catholic Primary School and look forward to walking alongside you in faith, learning, and hope as we journey together.
Yours sincerely,
Karen Bergin – Principal
Faith & Community
Strong partnership between students, families, school staff and the parish — rooted in our Catholic identity
Faith, learning and relationships are interwoven: we nurture each child spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and socially
Teaching & Learning Focus:
We adopt high-quality, evidence-based instructional practices as outlined by MACS Vision for Instruction — ensuring every child receives a knowledge-rich, coherent and rigorous teaching built on how students learn best.
Our instructional approach emphasises clarity, modelling, guided practice and independent application, designed so that students are supported, challenged and empowered.
We believe in equity and excellence: all children, regardless of background or circumstance, are supported to flourish.
Engagement & Well-being:
In line with the MACS Vision for Engagement, we commit to creating learning environments where every child feels safe, belongs, and is fully engaged in their learning journey.
Key practices we focus on include: respectful behaviour, strong attendance, purposeful learning, clear routines, wellbeing support and strong home-school-parish partnerships.
We recognise the importance of student voice, motivation and belonging — when children feel valued, know what learning looks like, and are supported, they are more likely to thrive.
Mission:
We are called to – • Learn • Belong • Hope
School-Family-Parish Partnership:
Families are active partners in their children’s learning and wellbeing — working alongside school and parish to support each child’s growth
Our parish connection nurtures our Catholic identity, strengthens our sense of community and invites children to commit their gifts in service of others
The school community works in continuum with the home and the parish to create unified support around each learner
