About our school

Holy Child Catholic Primary School provides a safe, happy, well organised, positive and stimulating learning environment designed to engage and inspire our students in classes from Prep to Year 6. Our learning spaces reflect the needs of students in the 21st century, developing learners who can transfer and apply their knowledge and skills within and beyond the school.

Holy Child School is situated on a large secure site and features our:

  • discovery centre
  • visual arts area
  • sports oval, basketball and tennis courts
  • junior and senior adventure playground
  • new senior building, junior building and prep buildings.

Holy Child Primary School is the parish primary school of Dallas. At Holy Child we invite our community to make sense of and celebrate its everyday experiences in light of Gospel teachings and the traditions of the Catholic community. We encourage students to model the behaviour of Mary of the Cross (Mary MacKillop) and Jesus our patron, to show how to live the values of the Gospel through justice, love and service, as they come to know about their community, the world, life and the human person.

Our curriculum is developed within the guidelines of the Australian Curriculum, using a Multi Domain approach, which is delivered through an inquiry based learning model.

Learning and Teaching at Holy Child School aims to develop skills, attitudes and deep understandings about the world and how it works, and to enable students to operate effectively in that world.

Quick Facts

  • The Josephite Sisters established holy Child Primary School, Dallas, in 1965 (Parish Reg). The Josephite ethos of pastoral care and community involvement are the hallmark of the Holy Child community.
  • Holy Child School is part of the Dallas parish, which serves the suburbs of Coolaroo, Meadow Heights, Dallas, Upfield, Campbellfield and parts of Broadmeadows.
  • Early in 2015 we celebrated 50 years, our silver jubilee, marking a significant milestone in our parish history.
  • The buildings have been regularly upgraded and have been maintained over the years. The school has completed the construction of a new-shared parish foyer and school multi-purpose hall. Followed by the construction and renovation of a new senior classroom block, funded under Building the Education Revolution, which caters for 21st century, student-centred learning approaches.
  • These improvements were complemented by the installation of a new garden, play environment and junior adventure playground.
  • In this special Catholic community, your child will experience a caring, supportive environment where our dedicated, professional staff encourage each student to feel happy, safe and confident in developing positive self-esteem. We believe it is important to create an environment where we all work together to provide security and growth in the child’s pursuit of excellence.
  • The school provides educational programs, which cater for the spiritual, academic, social, emotional and physical development of students. We offer a broad and comprehensive curriculum with a strong emphasis on academic excellence and building quality relationships.
  • Underpinning all our teaching is a strong sense of our Catholic faith and tradition and, as such, our Religious Education Programs are an integral part of our curriculum. We have a strong sense of pastoral care and our discipline policy is based on justice and concern for others.
