Whitefriars College, Donvale VIC – Champions of Change
During 2020, the College has focused on our Catholic faith, community and learning, with student, parent and staff wellbeing at the forefront. Teachers became facilitators of learning with explicit teaching delivered through online class discussions, forums, polls, surveys and video content.
The challenges and opportunities have taught us to be agile, to adapt, to problem solve, to become more creative and innovative. These are the essential skills of the future; skills which are being embedded in what we teach and the way we teach it. Our student leaders have been outstanding in reaching out with compassion and encouragement to our younger students and their families. They have constantly reflected on ways of connecting with our boys, of lifting their spirits and of bringing a bit of light and joy to their lives.
Our student leaders have led such initiatives as games, competitions, talent quests, environment activities, sports challenges, music concerts and mental health awareness activities. They have been the constant in all our lives. They have led by example and left a legacy which exemplifies true servant leadership for those to follow.
