Whitefriars College, Donvale VIC – Building Resilience
Whitefriars College acknowledges the right of every student to an education that is directed to the development of the whole person. We value wellbeing for learning and the holistic education of our boys. Teaching wellbeing fosters the academic, social, emotional and spiritual growth of our students and prepares them for life beyond the College. Our weekly Wellbeing Program provides a range of experiences and exposure to a range of issues that focus on building positive relationships with self and others, and empowering young men to be resilient, confident and live with integrity. Our partnership with The Resilience Project delivers a pro-active approach to wellbeing based on four key principals – Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy. We also run other programs which have a positive impact on the resilience of our young men. Our Outdoor Learning Program at Year 8 and 9, is designed to take students out of their comfort zone and away from the creature
comforts of home. Students develop teamwork, leadership and the capacity to adapt to, and thrive in, an outdoor environment. Our ACC Sports Development Program, with its experienced and expert coaches, challenges our boys to do their best in a team environment and learn how to respond to adversity and work towards a common goal in a highly competitive environment.
