St Paul’s Catholic College, Greystanes NSW – Building Resilience

The pandemic has highlighted, more than ever, the need to build resilience within our students and school communities in order to navigate the ever-changing landscape which confronts us in these
times. The connection between wellbeing and learning is an important component in supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of the students in our care. At St Paul’s we cater for a diverse community of
needs with a view to ensuring all have access to the very best education possible. In responding to these needs, the College is focused on building active and participatory partnerships with the parents in the
community in supporting the endeavours of their sons. However, at St. Paul’s Catholic College, we are committed to building the resilience of the students in our care. To that end, in 2022, the College is working with The Resilience Project by engaging in a school partnership program, through presentations, student curriculum, teacher resources and digital content, to support mental health in the classroom, staffroom and family home. The project focuses on empathy, gratitude, mindfulness and emotional literacy. Ultimately, the program will give our students the opportunity to develop a capacity to articulate how they feel about themselves and about the challenges which will confront them not only through adolescence, but also in their adult lives.
