St Patricks, Shorncliffe, QLD – Building Resilience
The events of the last two years will forever be a milestone in the history of education. The traditional classroom has been opened up with on-line access to teaching and learning. Parent engagement in their child’s learning has never been more critical. Education institutions, educators and learners have all had to pivot to on-line learning, and self-driven learning has become an important skill. The world is rapidly changing, and this will inevitably have an impact on the employment landscape our graduates will transition into. New priority industries will emerge providing new job opportunities. As a committed and diverse teaching and learning faculty, we offer a liberating education that will foster the skills needed for this future. We will encourage our young men to be communicators, critical thinkers, creative and collaborative. To be successful in this new world, our young men will need workforce skills that are accompanied by a strong emphasis on the values of empathy, integrity, and inclusivity. We will foster these values by offering him a sense of justice and solidarity and encourage him to look beyond himself and consider how he can make a difference to those in his community and those on the margins of society. Good schools, now and in the future, will need to consistently review and renew their curriculum and pedagogical practices to ensure currency of skills and pathways to students. St Patrick’s College is committed to providing our young men with a solid pathway to their future.
