St Clare’s College, Waverley NSW – Change Makers

Ms Ann Freeman, St Clare’s College Principal, reflects on the theme of
change-makers:

Schools, at their best, are living, breathing communities where students grow not only in knowledge, but in character. Our role as educators is not just to prepare students for exams, but to prepare them for life. As such, at St Clare’s College, we are building change-makers — citizens who will positively shape the world beyond our College walls. That task requires more than textbooks and timetables; it requires connection, compassion and a collective commitment to nurture the potential within each individual.

Here at St Clare’s, we aim to foster the kind of mindset that looks beyond individual achievement to consider how one’s actions can positively impact others. Change makers are not born; they are developed through a combination of opportunity, mentorship and encouragement. At our College, we know that every student has the potential to be a leader in their own right. For some, that may mean leading a team or a group; for others, it may mean leading by example, through acts of kindness or by standing up for what is right. Every student has a role to play in shaping a future that is fairer, more inclusive and more sustainable.

The strength of St Clare’s College is in its people, every one of us, and together, we are building a future defined by hope compassion and leadership.
