St Andrews College, NSW – Building Resilience

The College approaches Wellbeing and Learning with a holistic approach, using the SPIRE framework of wellbeing. There is an emphasis on developing the whole person with a driving focus on Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relational and Emotional wellbeing. Knowing the learner starts with knowing their strengths, which all staff and students use as a tool for learning. Each student in the College focuses on their strengths and how to build them in different ways. Understanding where their strengths lie can help develop areas like
resilience. Students are encouraged to evaluate their strengths twice a year and develop strategies to develop strengths that they find difficult. The College Wellbeing program offers a program that builds on Positive
Education from Year 7 up to Year 12. It is our aim to develop skills necessary to make each student a
productive member of our community once they leave school. Life skills, such as resilience, mental toughness,
mindfulness to name a few, are developed through their time at the College.
