The American poet and civil rights activist, Maya Angelou once commented, “every day you should reach out and touch someone.” So it is with Southern Cross Catholic College. We are a community built on acceptance, respect and love. Our approach is different to many other schools – our curriculum is broad, our support of all students, whether gifted or with special needs, is exceptional. However, at the heart of what we do is a belief that every child is a gift. As such, our focus, and the central component of a Southern Cross education is a pastoral care program that concentrates on the well-being of students and staff. Sitting above our academic operation is an understanding that if our students feel they are connected to the community, they will be regular in their attendance and embrace the challenges of their day-to-day lives. In order to facilitate this, the College has a dynamic House System at the forefront of our pastoral care. Student well-being is key. Within traditional subject areas, such Health and Physical Education, leadership opportunities are created that continue to be successful in developing the great potential of all students. A great community is a unified community. The connection at Southern Cross Catholic College of staff, students and parents is one of great strength.
