Parade College, VIC – Champions of Change
Not only does Parade offer a comprehensive range of academic and practical offerings, skills gained through positive interaction are carried over into leadership opportunities. House Committees lead to specific training for senior leadership positions. Students are also encouraged to use these skills and initiative in their engagement with the wider community.
For example, Yr 9 students look at such things as Designing Law, Ecological Tourism, Environmental Studies, Marketing, Small Business and Try a Trade in the Excel Program that often takes them into the Melbourne City environment.
Once commissioned, Yr 10’s work with groups in Nursing Homes, Special Development Schools and Primary School settings through the Community Action Program.
Opportunities to work closely with the disadvantaged through the Breakie Van, the St. Alban’s Refugee Tutoring Program and other support agencies are also offered. As well as gaining a sound education, it is hoped that a graduate of Parade also has a keen sense of social justice as they mature into responsible, nurturing and thoughtful young leaders.
