OLMC Parramatta, NSW – Reimagining Education

Education has changed as we emerge from challenging global times. Now, school communities must not only to protect the lives of children and young people, but also enrich and develop youth – make them more resilient.

At OLMC, our House structure provides a sense of belonging and unity between peers of all ages. Staff place great attention on developing empathy, so students can learn from diverse perspectives and ideas.

It has also become apparent that schools need to teach skills which help children navigate real world issues. OLMC has introduced cocurricular activities, including the Metro Mind STEAM Challenge and Big Ideas Challenge. This has enabled students to develop problem solving and flexible thinking skills, fundamental to life beyond the Mercy gates.

Digital literacy is important for students to embrace and we have embedded this into all our learning programs. Learning at OLMC is not a one size fits all approach. We make learning interactive, dynamic and individualised.

Staff encourage all students to have a thirst for knowledge and direct their own learning. OLMC encourages students to flourish academically, as well as socially, emotionally and creatively. And perhaps most importantly, become people who can help support others to do the same.
