OLMC Parramatta, NSW – Building Resilience
From its earliest beginnings, OLMC has been championing the education of women, fostering girls to become courageous advocates with limitless possibilities. All aspects of a Mercy education work together to build resilience in our students; pastoral care, like mission and learning excellence, is integrated into all that we do at the College. Pastoral Care is an integrated process of education and skill building that is based
on relationships and affirmation, supportive and celebratory in its academic care approach. Our approach is intentionally designed to help foster wellbeing and resilience, creating an environment where each girl feels supported, safe and ready to take a chance, believing in her potential. OLMC is a closely knit, inclusive community made up of smaller families. The House System fosters strong links between girls, teachers and parents/carers. Mercy Girls stay in the same Homeroom during their time at the College; by knowing each girl and building positive relationships, staff can effectively meet their needs. As a girls’ school, every day students see girls achieving, taking leadership roles, trying new things and succeeding. At the age where girls are forging their identities and aspirations, they are free to focus on strong friendships and to dare to imagine what is possible. Our extensive Cocurricular Program offers opportunities to try new things, be challenged and excel in in a wide variety of interests because we believe that a life beyond the classroom builds confidence, friendships, resilience and an adventurous mindset.
