Mt Maria College, Petrie QLD – Champions of Change
“We have students here achieving incredibly high results in high level general subjects, and who are aiming for university entrance, alongside students in pursuit of trades and other pathways.,” Wayne Chapman, Principal.
Mt Maria Petrie is a place where learning and pathways are responsive to changing needs of students as they progress through their high school years. The college is in the education precinct at Petrie and is close to the University of the Sunshine Coast where our students access university subjects in years 11 and 12. There are strong relationships with TAFE and other tertiary providers allowing students to gain a head start by completing certificate courses towards career and tertiary study pathways beyond school. Students are equipped with technology and remote learning skills that allow them to be flexible and resilient learners in any environment.
A key element of the college’s success with students, and what staff do exceptionally well, is support our young people to thrive in their learning and development through adolescence. Being a school of just 500 students makes us small enough to know each student individually, and big enough to offer a breadth of opportunities. Every student has a pastoral care teacher responsible for looking after them during their time at the college.
Students and their families are invited to live the college community mantra of High Expectations, Resilience and Perseverance every day.
