MacKillop College, Werribee VIC – Building Resilience

At the time of writing this, we have overcome another season of lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been a humbling reminder of the resilience and adaptability required when working together towards a greater good. On a global scale, the entire method of teaching and learning has been thrown into uncertainty and the education industry has needed to adapt. Face-to-face interactions, practical elements to classes, excursions and invited guests all became unreliable resources; with technology, such as Zoom and the flexibility to move from the tangible classroom to a virtual one, suddenly a requirement. MacKillop is a Catholic College in the Josephite tradition, inspired by St Mary of the Cross MacKillop and, during this pandemic, our patron saint’s words of strength in unity and hope in the face of adversity helped to strengthen our resolve to survive and thrive. There’s a reason the school motto is ‘Celebrating all life; Challenging all people; Dreaming the new day.’ We live and learn for a brighter, more educated and inclusive future. We are a community that believes in each other. MacKillop College has been, and will continue to be, resilient and adaptable.
