Emmaus College, Vermont South VIC -Champions of Change
We have an uncompromising belief in the goodness of life and hold a fundamental optimism about the future, about young people and about the potential for education to lead us to a better world for them and with them. “Success for all” means knowing your students and building student capacity for future readiness. Creativity, entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, a strong spiritual and ethical compass, digital awareness, problem solving, self-directed learning and the ability to collaborate in a global world are paramount skills for success in learning and life. Through these COVID times, this has never been more apparent.
As a Christ-centred community, we are all called to be Champions of Change. To care for our common home, protect human dignity, work towards the common good and in particular to care for the poor and vulnerable. Our students have a voice, and the opportunity to develop their leadership capabilities, within our six student committees – Social Justice, Liturgy, Environment, Academic, Arts and Wellbeing. We connect with our local and global communities through aged-care facilities, specialist schools and charities. We increase our understanding of others through the “Building Bridges” program, where we explore both understanding and respect of cultural and religious diversities.
Great schools cannot exist without great students. We are proud of our students and confident they are, and will continue to be, Champions of Change.
