St Mary’s College, Woodend QLD – Educating for the Future
St Mary’s College is a progressive and inclusive Catholic College for girls. It is located in the hub of the Catholic Education precinct in Ipswich and has provided more than 150 years of education in the Mercy tradition. As a community, we create a nurturing and supportive environment where all learners can achieve success.
Our community focus and size, coupled with our Pastoral Care Program, provides greater opportunity to respond to the needs of each individual where positive relationships form the basis of all of our interactions. The girls are, therefore, provided with the skills to be responsible decision makers and encouraged to accept the consequences of their actions. Teaching a growth mindset motivates and generates productivity in young people, as well as enhancing relationships.
At St Mary’s College, we promote persistence, teaching students to cultivate a healthy relationship with achievement. We invite students into a learning conversation through self-evaluation, building strategies towards learning empowerment. Many roles which currently exist will take a different form in the future and, therefore, soft skills are required to keep up with this everchanging environment. Soft skills enable people to interact effectively with other people. These necessary skills are promoted within our College, with a strong focus on leadership, adaptability, teamwork and problem solving.
At St Mary’s College, we educate strong and capable young women who are prepared for the 21st century. We individualise each student’s personal journey and encourage learning independence. Young adults flourish when they are active learners and our College tracks student progress focusing on learning growth.
We pride ourselves on our diverse opportunities for students – academic, vocational, cultural, mission and service, and sporting. We invite you to visit our website and Facebook page. We would also love for you to join us for a personalised tour to experience the unique and special nature of our community.
