“CBC is a Birth-12 Catholic College for boys in the Edmund Rice Tradition that embraces award winning innovative educational excellence.”
Principal Mr Noel Mifsud

Christian Brothers College, established in 1878, has a proud history of providing award winning educative excellence for boys in a safe and happy environment. Passionate and talented staff work collaboratively with leading national and international educators to deliver contemporary and relevant outcomes for our boys, addressing each student’s unique needs through genuine student-teacher relationships.

In addition to our leading 21st century pedagogy, our students benefit from a range of innovative facilities including comprehensive IT facilities, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) labs, a state-of-the-art Junior Campus, an electrotechnology trades training centre, and rooftop sports fields. Located in the heart of Adelaide our boys benefit from closely supervised learning at city museums, law courts, galleries and the Zoo.

CBC graduates excel in engineering, medicine, law and trades but above all, are valued men of faith, excellence, community and compassion.

The CBC community understands the importance of caring for our environment through sustainable initiatives and students of the college are actively encouraged to be responsible members of our world. Our students participate in a range of activities designed to raise awareness of the important issues facing our planet. Our students regularly undertake the SA Water – Sustainability Challenge where they work in teams to design a sustainable town with conclusions that are applied to their own situation at home. Excursions to the Food Forest farm teaches our students techniques to grow their own food and provides insight into global sustainable farming practices. Christies Walk — a community of homes in the heart of Adelaide embraces an ecologically sustainable lifestyle using solar energy, recycling, stormwater capture and clever use of materials – provides an opportunity for students to study these innovative ideas.

In collaboration with the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, students are helping to preserve endangered native plants through the SEEDS (Stewardship of Endangered Endemic Species) project. CBC students are tasked with propagating rare plants from seeds to maturity and returning the new seeds to the Botanic Gardens. Even the state-of-the-art Junior Campus has been designed to incorporate large open spaces best suited for boys’ learning with excellent sunlit rooms, automatic LED lighting and even the beautiful floorboards from the old school was recycled into the outstanding ceilings of the chapel.

From “basketball rings in recycling cages” to innovative classrooms, CBC students are learning that ecology and sustainability is everybody’s responsibility.
